Click the Help link to visit our help site where you can ask questions and browse education resources about the app. There's also an option to view the help videos and the full set of keyboard shortcuts.
Asana is arranged in a 3 pane view: the left projects pane, the middle task pane & the right details pane. After selecting a task you can open the right pane by hitting tab or using hotkeys (like tab+a) or clicking the arrow button at the very right of the task title.
The Projects Pane
In the left pane in All Workspaces View*, you can search items and navigate to different workspaces or to different projects within those workspaces. The Search Bar above your list of workspaces will search people, tags, projects, tasks and workspace titles. In All Workspaces View, search will search all workspaces; in Single Workspace View, search will search the currenty selected workspace
The Projects Pane
In the left pane in All Workspaces View*, you can search items and navigate to different workspaces or to different projects within those workspaces. The Search Bar above your list of workspaces will search people, tags, projects, tasks and workspace titles. In All Workspaces View, search will search all workspaces; in Single Workspace View, search will search the currenty selected workspace
In each single workspace view, in addition to the Projects tab, you will also see a Tags tab that will show you all the shared and your private tags for that workspace. There is also a People tab that will show you a list of people in your workspace, clicking on a person will show you the public tasks assigned to that person so you can see what they are working on.
The Pencil Menu to the right of the workspace name (or the gear menu at the bottom of the workspace section) will allow you to manage the workspace details and invite or remove members, edit the workspace settings, or toggle whether you see archived projets or not.
One way to create a new project is by using the New Project button at the bottom of the left pane.
*All Workspaces View is currently being rolled out and may not be available to all accounts
The Task Pane
In the middle pane you can edit the project title, follow the project, and use the filters to see different subsets of tasks in the current project. Mouse over or click on the Share button for project privacy resources. The New menu is one way to create new tasks and priority headings. The Archive menu let's you archive completed tasks or show all the tasks you've archived in that project. The Arrow menu to the right of the Share button let's you archive or delete the current project. Here you can also convert it to a tag or print the project. In this menu you can also sync the project to your calendar or duplicate it. To the left of the Share button shows an icon, mousing over this will give me more information regarding project privacy.
The Details Pane
In the right pane you can enter notes and add comments as well as add various meta-data to the selected task. There's assignee, projects the task is currently in, due date, tags, attachments, and followers. This task is set to repeat and shows the repeat icon next to the due date.
The activity feed will show you the comments and a history of the changes to the task. In addition to editing the task name in the middle pane, you can edit the task name here. Above the task name there will be a checkbox to mark the task complete; next to this is a menu where you can delete the task or turn it into a priority heading. The details pane will also provide information about task privacy.
