Can I use Asana over email with people who haven't created an account?

If some of your teammates like to handle all of their tasks by email or don't want to sign up for a new system, you can still use Asana with them.

Creating a Placeholder Account

  • Assign a task to their email address or add them as a follower*

  • They'll get email notifications about the task and can reply by email without ever signing in or activating an account

  • They can also update the followers, assign the task, or mark the task complete over email

If you set a due date on the task, Asana will also send summary emails to your teammate when the task is due within a week or overdue.

*People who haven't activated their account are still included in your workspace, so you can see the tasks assigned to them.  When they decide to activate the account, they'll have access to all of the public projects in the workspace, unless they are invited as a Guest.
