How is my data backed up?

Asana uses Amazon's relational database service (RDS) to manage all user data. Amazon RDS provides us with the ability to do point in time recovery of our entire database at any second over the previous 8 days.

As an extra precaution, we also take regular SQL dumps of the database and move them to a separate server on a separate provider so that we can restore them elsewhere as needed even in the event of a total Amazon failure. The database is replicated synchronously so that we can typically recover from a database failure in a matter of seconds.
