Automation execution history

Available on Asana Starter, Advanced, Enterprise, and Enterprise+ tiers, as well as legacy tiers Premium, Business, and Legacy Enterprise.
Automation execution history shows you when an automation ran and what it did. You can see which task triggered each run, which actions were taken, and how many AI credits were used. This helps you troubleshoot, audit, and fine-tune your automations.

Accessing automation execution history
Each automation keeps its own history on the automation's Activity tab.
- Navigate to the automation you want to review in your project.
- Click the automation to open it. It will open on the Build tab.
- Click the Activity tab.
The automation execution history displays information in chronological order, with the most recent executions at the top.
Automation activity view
The automation activity view provides the following information:
- Status: Whether the automation executed successfully or failed.
- Event: Which task the automation ran on.
- Started: When the automation was triggered.
- Actions: Details of the actions performed by the automation.
- AI credits used: Any AI credits consumed by the automation.
View automation activity details
You can open any automation entry in the table to see exactly what happened and when. The right pane shows who triggered the automation, its status, and when it started and ended. It also shows the number of actions completed, any AI credits used, and an Activity log that lists each step in order, starting with the automation being triggered.
- Navigate to the Activity tab of your automation.
- Click the entry you want to review.
- Review the steps in the activity log in the right pane.
- Click View task to open the task that triggered the execution.
