Asana works best when it works like you do. This article shows how to shape My tasks, Home, and the desktop and mobile apps so your day starts with clarity.

Shape your My tasks to match how you plan

Think of My tasks as your personal to-do list. Everything assigned to you is automatically routed here, regardless of the project it came from.

In My tasks, you can select the view that works best for you. Switch between List, Board, and Calendar, plus a focused 7-day calendar that lets you drag tasks between days and toggle multi-day tasks on/off to keep the week manageable.

Tips to shape your My tasks:

  • Sort by due date so the most pressing work naturally rises to the top.
  • Group by project so you can see tasks clustered by initiative and clear one project before moving on to the next.
  • Create simple sections, such as Today, This Week, and Later.
  • Pick one “default” view that matches how you prioritize.

Make Home your personal command center

Home is your customizable landing page. Add widgets (such as My Tasks and Recent Projects), rearrange and resize them, and keep only what helps you.

Quick setup:

  1. Go to Home
  2. Click Customize on the top-right corner
  3. Add widgets by clicking on them or dragging them to your home screen
  4. Remove anything you don’t use
  5. Drag the widgets to reorder them

Work where you are with the Asana desktop and mobile apps

Desktop app

The Asana desktop app gives your work a dedicated home. It mirrors everything in the web app, but trims the noise so you can focus.

Getting the app is straightforward: download it for Mac or Windows from Asana’s site, sign in to your workspace, and you’re ready to work.

Focus time on a task
When something deserves uninterrupted attention, turn it into a focused block—timer running, notifications paused.

  1. Click the Asana icon in your menu bar to open the compact desktop view.
  2. Choose the task you want to work on (from your priority list).
  3. Click Start to begin the timer; Asana will pause its notifications until the session ends.
  4. When you’re done, mark the task complete or exit focus to resume notifications.
