Create a portfolio

How to create a portfolio.gif

There are different ways to create a portfolio:

  1. Click the Projects + button in the sidebar and click New portfolio
  2. Click the Insights + button in the sidebar and click New portfolio
  3. Navigate to Portfolios in the sidebar and click +Create

You can add projects from within a portfolio in the following ways:

  1. Click Add work to search for an existing project
  2. Create a new project by clicking on the drop-down arrow beside + Add work and selecting Create new project

You can remove a project from your portfolio at any time.

To remove a project from a portfolio:

  1. Right click on the project name column and select Remove from portfolio
  2. Navigate to the project’s overview tab, scroll down to Connected portfolios, click the three dot icon next to the portfolio’s name and click Remove from portfolio

Archiving portfolios

Archiving portfolios allows you to archive portfolios that are no longer active, helping you focus on active portfolios while preserving the historical record of the portfolio.

There are three ways to archive a portfolio:

  1. From the drop-down menu next to the portfolio's name
  2. Clicking the three dot icon on the portfolio details pane
  3. Right click on a portfolio and select Archive portfolio

An archived portfolio will:

  • Display a banner at the top of the portfolio page indicating that it's archived
  • Show an archive icon beside its name
  • Still be accessible via search, wherever it appears in the UI (such as favorites, team pages, within other portfolios, etc), or by a link

Archived portfolios don't count toward portfolio limits.

To unarchive a portfolio:

  • Click Unarchive portfolio from the drop-down menu from within the portfolio or the portfolio details pane
  • Click the Restore button in the archive banner on the portfolio
  • Right click on a portfolio and select Unarchive portfolio

Adding project templates to portfolios

Adding a project template to a portfolio
  1. Click Customize
  2. Scroll down to Project templates
  3. Select a template and click the + Add to portfolio button

Once a project template has been added to the portfolio, it will appear in the drop-down menu beside Add work and can be used to create new projects from within the portfolio.

To remove a template from the portfolio, click the Remove from portfolio button. The Remove from portfolio option will only appear for templates that have been added to the portfolio.

Nested portfolios

Adding portfolios to portfolios allows you to integrate and track your work across multiple projects seamlessly. This enables you to monitor your work effortlessly and communicate progress to stakeholders.

  1. Click +Add work and select or type a portfolio’s name
  2. Click the drop-down arrow next to +Add work and select Create new portfolio

Portfolios that contain portfolios will have disabled timeline tabs. This can be undone by removing any nested portfolios.

Project overview

Click on any project in your portfolio to view the right pane.

For projects from the portfolio right pane you can:

  • Access the project directly to view its tasks, resources, and timeline
  • Share the project with other stakeholders
  • Copy the link, remove, and rename the project
  • Close the right pane
  • Add or edit a due date or date range
  • Update or request a status update
  • View, comment and share the latest status update
  • View past status updates
  • View project description from project overview
  • View members of the project

For nested portfolios from the portfolio right pane you can:

  • Access the project directly to view its tasks, resources, and timeline
  • Share the project with other stakeholders

  • Close the right pane
  • Add or edit a due date or date range
  • Update or request a status update
  • View, comment and share the latest status update
  • View past status updates
  • View project description from project overview
